Tic Tac Toe

Within the pages of volume 6, Diane Harris, the interactive editor for Quiltmaker, takes FreeSpirit Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt and does a modified Tic Tac Toe block or in today's world it could be called a hash tag! She coupled the vibrant green and aqua fabric with black to show true contrast from light to dark.

Log Cabin

Sprinkled throughout you will see bits and pieces of Chicopee as well as FreeSpirit LouLouthi by Anna Maria Horner in Anita Grossman Solomon's Kaleidoscope Log Cabin -- her modern version of a tried and true well-loved block.

Not to leave out the men, Angela Walters takes FreeSpirit Curious Nature from Parson Gray and combines it with solids to create her block Boomerang -- and it does look like a boomerang.

Isn't it amazing what a color or a turn of a pattern can do to make a block as exciting as an entire quilt?
