Time sure does fly when you're having fun . . .

Are we having fun yet?  Wow, where did September go.  As you know part of our designer series is a giveaway.  We featured Nel Whatmore and Katharine's Wheel in September and even though it is October we must fulfill our promise.  Katharine's Wheel was inspired by spirals and curves found on objects and in things in Nel's life. The name, Katharine, is Nel's middle name.

Do you have a favorite shape and has it inspired a quilt or project in your life? Do you tend to be attracted to certain geometric shapes in the fabrics you buy or use?  Tell us about the shapes in your life and we will randomly select six commentators to win six, 1 yard cuts of Nel's Katharine's Wheel.  Winners will be announced here on Monday, October 8, after the second posting in our 12 Weeks of Christmas post!  Make certain you visit Nel's website for inspiration and patterns!

I just love the quilt and bag in your post. I am definitely more attracted to curvy shapes, like flowers, leaves and even animals. Then I put them into blocks - go figure. Such lovely fabric; thanks for the chance to win.

I tend to be attracted to swirls or dots (circles). Something about it... like the pattern flows!

I love circles and I have really been wanting to make a Dresden plate quilt this year. I also like stars and I have made two quilts with them. Katherine's Wheel is gorgeous. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love geometrics, but don't see nearly as many as I'd like. thanks for the giveaway.

I have started a "art journal" where I'm using whatever medium I'm in the mood for to express what's going on in my life. I find that I keep sketching flowing lines. They turn into trees, body parts, funky leaves and flowers.

I love a combination of squares with organic shapes. :)

I tend to use a lot of 'dots', so circles in my life. I really love plaids though not a shape!

I am often drawn to diamonds and triangles. I haven't done a ton of curved piecing yet, so I tend to work with straight angles.

I'm attracted to hexagons and octagons in quilt design. I tend to go for linear geometrics in fabric design, rather than circles.

Although I like spirals I find I'm drawn more to squares and rectangles!
I love the tote bag!!

Curves are scary to me for quilting, so I stick to traditional squares and triangles, but lately I love the Tumbler shape, too!

I seem to be drawn to swirls and curves in printed fabrics rather than the hard lines of geometric shapes. (supermomnocape at yahoo dot com)

Definitely triangles as they can be used to make star shapes, my favorite in quilts! Circles are nice, too.

I love Nel's fabric designs! I tend to be drawn to spirals and curves in fabrics but then I have a slight obsession with turning them into hexagons!
Thanks for the giveaway :)

I love Organic shapes...I am constantly drawn to their curves and gentle lines. However, looking over at the stack of quilt tops I completed this summer...I sew very few organic shapes.....go figure. Most of the quilting I completed this summer, triangles, squares and rectangles. But, my fabrics...ALL Organic shapes! So taking a full stock of my little world, I can safely say that I am an equally opportunity shape consumer! :)

I love swirls and spirals and can't seem to stop myself from buying them whenever I come across them. They are also my "go to" design for free motion quilting.

I love anything with flowers on it. So, you could say, soft, rounded shapes speak to me.... Thanks for the giveaway. Love the red/blue flower print.

I'm a big fan of dots and stripes. I tend to like small patterns to offset the drama of big prints.

I love seeing the spirals and circles, but I think I do better at making the geometric shapes. :)
Quilters have so many more options these days than when my mom was quilting many years ago.
Love your fabric!

We are finally buying our first home, so I have done a few improv piecing house projects these last couple of weeks!

As much as I love wonky and the movement spirals inspire, I am truly drawn to geometrics as I really do like order in my life. What a generous giveaway of a beautiful line. Thank you.

I seem to be attracted to fabric lately with birds on it. I do love leaf shapes on fabric too.

I love triangles and circles, but not necessarily together! Piecing curves can be tricky, but applique is always a good option for me!

I like round shapes-big circles, little circles, any type of circle.
Thanks for the giveaway.

I like circles and dots, so I've purchased lots of polka dot fabrics. Haven't worked with curved piecing yet, but I enjoy patterns that use straight piecing but give the illusion of curves. Thanks for the giveaway.

I love spirals, and for some time I wore a silverring with that symbol. The symbol is somewhat mysterious, ageold and my choice!

I am always inspired by heart and star shapes. I have made a quilt with star shapes but haven't made one with hearts yet, although that is on my to do list.

I think my favorite shapes in are stars and circles. I love pieced stars and printed swirly circles. Thanks for the chance to win the beautiful fabric!

I like polygons like triangles and hexagons.
The quilt on the bannister is gorgeous as is Nel's fabric collection. Thanks for the giveaway.

My favourite shape is the square - I love checks, wonky squares, square background blocks - anything that is square.

I stitch geometric shapes, but I'm using the patterns in the fabric to recreate circles and swirls. I love to dissect the patterns on fabric. I have used different areas of one fabric and create blocks and pieces so different that at first glance you cannot tell they were from the same fabric. mlmurphy1012 at gmail dot com

I was born in the 50's (yes, 1950's!!!), but for some reason I just love the 30's & 40's fabric for quilting. The last few years I have been addicted to the mix of either primaries, or pastels, or AQUA & RED! So when I saw your photo of the aqua & red . . . you got My attention!!!!!!!!!
