Tula has been more than generous to share with us 10 things
you might not know about Tula Pink!!
1. I have a black belt in Tang Soo Do and was a competitive
fighter as a teenager
2. I nearly failed out of high school and went on to
graduate 2nd in my class in college (don't worry moms, there is hope, some of
us grow out of it)
3. All of my designs are centered on plants and animals but
I don't have either in my home, I can't keep anything alive be it cactus or
goldfish.
4. I love cilantro and will put it on almost anything, much
to the dismay of my friends and family.
5. I hate taking pictures, I would much rather draw an apple
than photograph one.
6. I have reclusive tendencies. If the whole world outside
my home and studio disappeared it would probably take me three months to
realize it or until I ran out of food or toilet paper.
7. I think everyone I meet is my exact same age whether they
are 12 or 60.
8. My favorite TV show in the whole world is Buffy The
Vampire Slayer, I am watching it while I write this.
9. I don't like hot drinks, ever. I might be the only person
in the MidWest that orders an iced latte at Starbucks in the middle of winter.
10. For the first three years of designing fabric I didn't
put my photo on anything because I didn't want anyone to know who I was.
Share with us anything you might have in common with Tula by

new Fox Field Collection!!! We will announce the winner Monday, March 31st!
I completely agree that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the most brilliant show. Is it tragic to admit that I cried when it ended? Well I did! Love Tula's designs :)
ReplyDeleteWell, Tula and I have cilantro in common. I can't say I put it on everything, but I use it a lot. That is probably why I love Mexican food so much. And I also have reclusive tendencies.
ReplyDeleteI am currently working on a quilt with Tula's Acacia line, and my next one will use Fox Field. I seem to have a bit of a Tula Pink obsession. ;-)
The only hot drink I like is hot chocolate... No coffee or tea or hot cider for me!
ReplyDeleteI don't take photos either!
ReplyDeleteI definitely like knowing that I'm not the only one with reclusive tendencies, especially when I share that quality with some excellent company. Coincidentally I'm also a fan of BTVS too, and in fact enjoy combining my reclusive interests with rewatching the series occasionally--like marathon style. ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't like to take pictures either. Only because I am not any good at it.
ReplyDeleteI can so relate to #6, especially if I am working on something special. I hate to take a break from it in case I lose the momentum!
ReplyDeleteSandy A
I could be a recluse as well, especially in the cold throes of winter. But, I enjoy nothing more than being at home with my dogs and sewing a quilt, often with Tula's fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI also have reclusive tendencies, especially when I am in the middle of a quilting project. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI, too, tend to be reclusive, and in relative happiness in that state (just me and my hubby). I'm not paranoid, or unfriendly, or anything like that. I'm just real happy to be alone. I'm comfortable with myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit reclusive also (#6). Though I'd have to go to the public library at least once a week. Thank.
ReplyDeleteIt might take me longer than 3 months to realize no one was left in the world I have a huge supply of toilet paper
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I have in common is that I'm not a fan of hot drinks either. I live in the Midwest and will order iced tea in January.
ReplyDeleteInteresting stuff! I can totally identify with the reclusive thing, but not much else - I missed seeing her at the WA sew expo because I had strep throat, I was so sad!
ReplyDeleteI don't like hot drinks either. Give me a cold iced tea or a Diet Coke anytime.

What fascinating facts about Tula! I think the thing I have in common with her is that I'm kind of reclusive too. I like hibernating in my sewing room. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI don't like hot drinks either - I really don't like the taste of coffee so I never got into the habit. People at work think it's weird that I don't know how to make coffee...
ReplyDeleteI have a deep and abiding love of Buffy. My seam ripper is nicknamed Mr Pointy.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little tricky to find one but I do like Cilantro. Not sure about putting it on everything though. I don't care for having my picture taken but I'm getting better at that. You are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI do like Cilantro, but maybe not on everything. I don't really like getting my picture taken either. You are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI can't keep plants alive either. I do better with animals though. I have a sweet two year old black kitty named Twinkles. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have reclusive tendencies too. I would rather stay at home than go out and deal with the public. :-) Thank you for the chance to win. Take care and God bless, Cory
ReplyDeleteI too like to be alone and I don't like to drink hot liquids either I order my hot chocolate at 140 which is really just slightly warmed :) especially by the time I let it cool.
ReplyDeleteOh I love cilantro (we call it coriander here) too!
ReplyDeleteI am a total recluse when I am working on a project. Good thing my hubby knows how to order take out.....
ReplyDelete7 and 8!! I do the exact same thing thinking everyone is the same age as me. Some feel nicely complimented by it, others less so ;) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer - what can I say? So good. So funny.
ReplyDeleteFantastic list, it's like a quick get-to-know-you! I am also mildly reclusive when on my own, but little kids make it hard to stay locked away :). Love fox field, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI don't like taking pictures either. Almost always miss my target - or at least part of it! Too little light - too much darkness. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI adore Tula's designs! And I also adore cilantro like her! thank you!
ReplyDeleteI also think that most people I meet are "my age"! Generally speaking, age doesn't even matter!
ReplyDeleteOoo I think that I have reclusive tendencies too, although 3 young children don't allow me much chance for it! thanks for a great giveaway
ReplyDeleteI only drink "cold" liquids too! I also live in the Midwest and could stay in my home for days until I run out of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI too have reclusive tendencies, I love to stay home and just do my own thing. Oh and stay in my pjs all day sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI'm also reclusive and love to be alone in my sewing room! Love Tula's designs and fabrics so much!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love people and can appear to be very social--I have reclusive tendencies too! I could be shut up in my house and craft studio for months and be perfectly happy!
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that popped out was when Tulla said I don't drink hot drinks ever. I said I thought I was the only one, you feel that way when you are out.
ReplyDeleteBig cilantro fan here! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love cilantro too. I grow it in my garden mixed in with my prairie plants, and I eat it straight out of the garden. It rarely makes it into my kitchen. I love Tula Pink. Her fabric and all the bright colors. I also like her interesting quilt designs.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I have in common with Tula is that I can't keep plants alive either. I love them, but somehow kill them with my love... Should I read something into that? The first comment about the martial arts makes me laugh because it totally sounds like a made up martial arts name (to keep the mystery I'm not going to Google it, and prefer to believe it's a humourous comment).
ReplyDeleteI'm reclusive too. I'd rather stay home buried in fabric than go do something outside of the house!
ReplyDeletetstanulis@mac.com
Oh, that age thing struck such a chord!! (just in the opposite way lol). When I talk with someone, I always feel like we're the same generation - clearly my generational boundaries are quite loose lol. Thanks for the chance to win! VermontPines at aol dot com
ReplyDeleteI too have reclusive tendencies, and am hooked on supernatural books and tv shows. My current addiction is Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeleteI also love cilantro. When I first married my husband I asked him to leave it out of things he cooked but as time went on I learned to love it. Now I don't like it when he leaves it out which he sometimes does if he doesn't have it available.
ReplyDeleteNumber 6 is me too!
ReplyDeleteLol...I am with you Tula!! I could stay inside my house just like you!! Outside all disappear...and I would b oblivious!! giggle....
ReplyDeleteI also am a bit reclusive... Btw now I'm curious about Tang Soo Doo!
ReplyDeleteYum cilantro! christina112358 at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteWhen I was pregnant, I couldn't stand hot drinks- but I was cold all the time- still don't like tea like I used to
ReplyDeleteUntil recently I had the picture thing too. I don't drink hot coffee, tea just cocoa. I love this fabric collection.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with #6. As long as there is coffee in the house I'm good. My husband can buy the toilet paper.
ReplyDeleteLove to quilt & I am very reclusive~
ReplyDeleteTula and I have common interests in the kitchen with adding cilantro to all the dishes... well, except for dessert!
ReplyDeleteI think I am still in my twenties, but I have grandchildren ;-) Age doesn't matter, the people do! Love your fabric!!
ReplyDeleteLovely facts!! I am like you, I have reclusive tendencies and proud of it ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love your designs and I understand your reluctancy for taking photos... Nothing like 'old school' :-)
Ohhh! Almost forgot, I am and live in Costa Rica and we use 'cilantro' a lot... For almost everything :-)
I too could stay in my house and not notice I haven't spoken to anyone in a few days. The age thing, I never remember my age, so I just think I am the same age as the person I'm talking to, except when they are actually my age, then I think they are older. (if that makes sense)
ReplyDeleteLove your designs!
I love cilantro too but my husband is one of those crazy people who (genetically) think it tastes like soap!
ReplyDeleteI also almost failed high school. I love learning, but school was just too boring.
ReplyDeleteI was homeschooled, and did hardly anything through highschool, except work. I went on to get my GED and graduated with high honors from NMT (a very hard tech school!).
ReplyDeleteLooks like we could start a Club for The Recluse. It would fail miserably though because no one would ever come! I love staying home and can go days without stepping foot out the door. Especially dusting this long winter.
ReplyDeleteI adore Buffy!
ReplyDeleteI also dislike hot drinks - my morning beverage choice is diet mountain dew!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to #10. I used to not put my name on anything, including homework projects until it was perfect. This doesn't work well though on tests.
ReplyDeleteI too was a late bloomer and at 40 am working on my masters and making A's.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely fall into the reclusive category...I grew up in a very rural area.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't live without my hot chocolates in winter, on the other hand my sister in Australia never drinks hot drinks.
ReplyDeleteI too have reclusive tendencies and would not go out for anything unless I really had to. I love to be at home and I love to be in my sewing room the best. However, I hate cilantro, and I love hot tea. I do love all of TUla Pink fabric - especially the fox field - in particular the one with the pink fox and the pink bunnies and flowers - my granddaughter Tess would love a dress made with that. I hope I win some TUla Pink!!!

No 7 - I, too, think everyone is the same age as me.........well, the age I think I am....I don't discriminate, and treat people accordingly. this means occasionally I step on toes, but for the most I speak to others on the same level, when I'm not be reclusive....lol
ReplyDeleteYes, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best, none of the newer TV series come close. I also think everybody is my age, we are ageless!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the list, I wish I knew Tula. I don't think I'm reclusive or introverted, but even though I live in a small town, I don't know many of my neighbors at all.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I hate taking pictures.
I am mostly reclusive too. I like cilantro, though the hubby doesn't, and I pretty much think everyone is my same age too.
ReplyDeleteWell there is one thing we definitely DON'T have in common - I can't stand cilantro, or coriander as we call it. I do have reclusive tendencies (or would if I didn't hav e to go out to work) and I don't have my photo online.
ReplyDeleteI don't take pictures, and the Outside World disappears when I am in The Zone, in my sewing room
ReplyDeleteHELLO,oh you're not the only 'reclusive one'>I am too! Much rather stay in and sew than go out and meet "socially"! Thanks for a neat giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY STITCHING!
msstitcher1214@gmail.com
totally agree with #7, I have friends all different ages but it doesn't matter to me, I don't really see age, but it freaks out my husband.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am a bit of a recluse. I love to see the blue sky and sunshine but feel no need to be outside. Love Tula's style!
ReplyDeleteI am the same as Tula when it comes to age. I can't tell if someone is 22 or 62. And I could very well be a recluse also. I don't like crowds.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite reclusive too, happy to stay at home for long periods of time! I am forced outside daily though by my three year old!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was only me, but I also think that everyone I meet is my age :)
ReplyDeleteI also have reclusive tendencies -- although it doesn't work very well with 3 active children!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
sarah@forrussia.org
I have a few things in common with Tula, like I loved all of the Buffy episodes, and I'm reclusive too! I'm new so I still haven't posted any pictures but I don't want to do that either. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletetdkcarpenoctem@hotmail.com
HELLO,thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda reclusive too, a lot of people are.I'd rather be home sewing than out visiting any day!
HAPPY SPRING!
msstitcher1214@gmail.com
I am making fajitas for dinner bring on the cilantro! She has wit. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely can agree on reclusive, especially if I am working on a project....or two...or three...or....
ReplyDeleteI have reclusive tendencies too. Not because I don't like to go out, but because I'm always busy at home and I go out very seldom. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteNo plants or animals here either. But I love them on fabric.
ReplyDeleteAs outgoing as people think I am I really have more reclusive tendencies!
ReplyDeletevalptc@bellsouth.net Cilantro rocks, did you know that people either taste it as soapy or yummy and that is why people have such strong opinions about it. My daughter is soapy taste bud girl.
ReplyDeleteI don't take pictures and really don't want anything to do with cameras. My husband has several old and new cameras and can't understand my aversion to them.
ReplyDeleteI am also a bit reclusive. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletesarah@forrussia.org
I almost flunked out of high school too. I'm now a teacher!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely the reclusive type too!
