If you are visiting our blog, it must be Wednesday, November 11. Welcome to FreeSpirit Fabric. Fabric defines your quilting. The same block in different fabrics can change the very tone of your project.
FreeSpirit Designer Essential solids in Dapple, paired with the classic look of the black and white foulard, designed by Melissa Peda, offers a clean and modern look. Now, imagine the same block in bright orange on a canvas of lime green using
FreeSpirit Wishing Well by Jenean Morrison, and the modern look and feel turns whimsical.
That's the beauty of fabric, don't you agree? Quiltmaker 100 Blocks is the perfect place to be inspired by the value of color, design and creativity in the simpleness of one block. Here is a good example, by Nancy Pinney. Her quilt, Spring Loaded, uses Rowan fabrics by Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably which offer totally different design sensibilities -- florals paired with graphical circles and a universal dot -- to create a soft, warm welcoming quilt. Of course, the colors are what draw Nancy's quilt together!
Now, we want you to continue your inspirational journey by exploring 100 blocks.

Love the fabrics and enjoy seeing the blocks in different colorways to get totally different looks.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons that I invested in a quilt design program (Quilt-Pro), is the ability to have lots of blocks already, and be able to draft in favorite blocks from other places....and then change the colors and fabrics around! Fabric is really the way to make a block your own, and I really enjoy that.
