Jay McCarroll's Habitat Collection and a GIVEAWAY

Hey Everyone! Jay McCarroll's latest collection is called Habitat. It is much different from his past collections and really gives a fun and eclectic look for us. We are very excited about it and he recently put together this great video that he talks about his collection. So check it out and let us know what you think! You can also view his video on our website and look at the fabric swatches of this collection HERE.

While we are on the Jay McCarroll subject here is an awesome giveaway. It is a sketch book that is covered in one of the Habitat prints. So leave a comment about what your favorite part of this collection is and we will draw a winner on Friday the 25th. Good luck!

  4. My favorite part of this is that Jay decided to use social media to remark about his collection. Consumers like to hear the story, they want to know the artist's inspiration and how it's interpreted into final product design. In this case, his graphic "Habitat" fabric collection.

Jay inspired me with his sense of color and visual texture. I like this direction he's heading, much more relatable.

oops...had to fix my grammar & spelling

  5. I appreciate that he wants his fabric to look hand drawn rather than produced on a computer.

  10. When I first saw this collection I almost squealed! It reminds of some of my favorite art pieces at the Science Museum of MN. There's a large one of string stretched over a space and then you can move colored lights over it to change the look. There's another where you do the same thing shining colored lights through oil and water. These fabrics look alive to me, just like the art they remind me of. You don't just look at it, you get inspired by it to do something.

  11. I love the way Jay looks beyond the fabric and sees what his fabric might be doing or where its going whether its to a little girls dress or a pillow on a designer sofa! He thinks so totally different than other designers Love him!

  13. I like to hear that the designer cares about the people using his fabrics...right down to the little girl making something for her doll. It's a great fabric collection!

  14. I love all the different elements in the range and I love the fact that Jay wanted his fabric to look like it came from a real designer and not a computer (which seems to have become prevalent today). Congrats on your beautiful fabric Jay

  15. My favorite part of this Jay McCarrol Habitat Collection is the "scratch" looking pieces are in such contrast with the polka dot and still go together well.

  16. I've always adored Jay, from PR Season 1 Episode 1 to his fun twisted whimsy fabric lines. This new line is so different, but I love it. The blotchy ink pattern and the BOLD graphics are fabulous, as expected.

  18. I love all of them, but really covet the polka-dotted patterns. I'm pretty sure there is a quilted scarf with these fabrics in my future.

  20. I LOVE the drop cloth designs. The whole collection is great. Modern and artsy, great for a modern quilt. I've loved Jay's style since I met him selling his vintage finds - pre-Project Runway. So happy to see that he seems to have found his niche. Keep it up Jay!

  23. As a painter, i find it very interesting and exciting to see how a fashion designer, like jay, creates there own fabric. I absolutely love the pixelation fabric and i love how he's inspired by a painting or artwork. I, myself, use fabric in my paintings, and dress up my figures in fabrics, instead of paint them. I would love to create a wearable fabric of one of my paintings. Love the blog jay! -jamie elizabeth

  24. I love the way Jay is totally unique and original. He doesn't copy/change what everyone else is doing, rather he comes up with truly original ideas. I love this collection! It's very interesting the way he chooses to use design and color.

  27. I love this...the best part of this fabric is that Mr. McCarroll takes his surroundings and makes them into a fabric that he has a piece of the soul in...I quilt with my heart and it's amazing to know and hear from designers that they are making the fabrics I love because of what speaks to them as well...Great job...ps I am a fabric hoarder to Mr. McCarroll and let me tell you..there's never enough!
    Cheers

  28. I enjoy getting to hear the artist comments about how and why he designed the way he did. I like the juxtaposition of the cityscape with more artsy type designs. I especially love the pieces with circles on them.
